Internal Assessments
Students are assessed in a variety of ways as the school year progresses. At the end of each term, report cards are issued with an internally awarded grade. 70% of this grade is based on an end-of-term test, while the other 30% is based on projects, assignments and formative assessments carried out during the term.
External Assessed Examinations
Cambridge Checkpoint
Cambridge Checkpoint tests have been designed to assess learners at the end of Year 6 and Year 9. They give valuable feedback on learners’ strengths and weakness in maths, science and ESL before they progress to the next stage of education. The exams are taken in April.
The scale score for the Cambridge Checkpoint ranges from 0 to 50, with 50 being the highest level of achievement. The grading criteria are as follows: 0 points is Unclassified, 1-10 points is Basic, 11-20 points is Aspiring, 21-30 points is Good, 31-40 points is High, and 41-50 points is Outstanding.
Cambridge IGCSEs – Year 10-11
Cambridge IGCSE is recognised by leading universities and employers worldwide.
Following their Secondary Checkpoint exams, our students choose whether the science stream or the commerce stream, before starting their two-year IGCSE course. The exams are taken in May/June and graded A*-G.
